I was thinking about this, and I came to the conclusion that if done right this could actually make a really cool game. Now let's face it, there are not many good movie tie in games out there, and the only ones I can think of that were good or at least decent is Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay for the original Xbox. The Thing for the PS2, and maybe the King Kong game for both consoles.
Anyway, what kind of game would you want for this movie if done right, RTS, FPS, or perhaps something else. I would personally like to see a strategy game like X-COM where by you control a base and design mechs and are called to different parts of the world to combat the monster threat. The addition of other units like aircraft carriers and jets would be cool as well. So what do you want?
I agree - a game would be very cool. I think if a game was made, GDT would want to do it right and take time to do it. Would probably have to wait for a sequel (fingers crossed)
Hey Parker, welcome to PacificRIm-Movie.net! I think we might see something similar with a game currently in development called "Kaiju Combat". Made by the same guys who made Godzilla: Save The Earth!
I hope they get the funding they need, cause this game certainly sounds great for any fans of Kaiju and Pacific Rim!
You can check out progress on Kaiju Combat via this Production Video.
Personally I would love a massive environment coupled with a more advanced creature editor along the lines of Spore from Maxis. Being able to create your own Kaiju would be a riot and then sending it to destroy your buddies cities in his game would be a fun feature.
To be honest, Kaiju Combat looks like it would be a cheesy game that would never receive a wide audience. I think it would be cool if Pacific Rim got a real budget, and could be a serious game. Large scale battles like in Battlefield 3, in very large sandbox maps. Just my thoughts though.
You are right Crysiisx2, from what I gather, Kaiju Combat is meant to be more a niche game, and won't be such a wide release as some other games like Call of Duty or Halo.
Regarding a Pacific Rim game, if they could make a game that goes beyond the film, or acts a prequel, like the comics are supposed to do, that would be better than a straight up copy of the movie. I'm not a huge fan of games made from movies.
it would be cool if there is pacific Rim game, and I'd say i would play it
the game should have an option for the kinect or move for 360 and ps3 maybe even for the wii, that would incorperate it with the movie seeing as the pilots are not actually in the mechs themselves
those are good ideas for which game system for the game
I think the multi player would be great you could create your own Kaiju or Jaeger and customise through out the game. You could have game modes like king of the hill or team deathmatch. You could run fly and swim across the different maps which would be different major cities and maybe major sights like a huge wood or Niagra falls. What you think let meh know
